About Foothills Digital

Technology that works
as hard as you do.

Since 2006, we've planned, built, launched and maintained the systems businesses depend on, and kept them running long after launch day.

Who we are

One partner, from the first plan and beyond.

Foothills Digital builds custom applications, puts AI agents to work on the jobs that eat your week, moves companies off platforms they've outgrown, and runs managed IT and security from the help desk to round-the-clock threat response.

We work with companies anywhere in the world, remotely or on site. Denver Metro to Colorado Springs is home, and we're there routinely. Anywhere else, travel is quoted up front.

Automation goes first, because the response to a problem shouldn't depend on who happens to be awake. People make the judgment calls, and the work stays documented, so your systems never live in one person's head.

Our mission

Make technology the dependable part of running a business: built properly, kept current, and defended every day.

Leadership

The person accountable for your work.

Founder and CEO

James built his first websites in 1998 and has worked in web development, managed IT and security ever since, for his own clients and through other firms. He founded Foothills Digital in 2006.

In late 2015 he stepped away to take a role elsewhere while the company carried on. He has since bought Foothills Digital back and leads it again, with its services rebuilt around AI, migrations and full life-cycle development, alongside the managed IT and security it has always done.

How we run it

Six things we won't change

Why clients stay is mostly about what we refuse to do: grow faster than we can serve, or charge for overhead you never see.

  • Lean

    Very little overhead

No floor of account managers, no lavish office. What we don't spend running ourselves comes off what you pay.

  • Few

    A select number of clients

We cap how much we take on. Overloading for the money is the most common way an IT company gets worse, and we've watched it happen.

  • Measured

    Every client, every 90 days

Since 2006, every client we have had got a check-in every 90 days and an annual survey, every one of them answered, and 100% of those answers were satisfied.

  • Certified

    On every platform we touch

AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, DigitalOcean, and the Linux and Windows servers in your own building. Whoever works on yours holds active certifications for it.

  • Anywhere

    Remote or in the room

We work with companies all over the world, remotely or on site. Denver Metro down to Colorado Springs is home, so we're there routinely. Anywhere else, travel goes in the quote.

  • Quoted

    No packages on a menu

One-off project or a recurring contract, every quote gets written for the job in front of us. That's why you won't find a price list on this site.

Manifesto

Your stack should outlast whoever built it.

Repository, runbooks, credentials, diagrams — handed over while the work happens rather than reconstructed on the way out. Leaving should be dull.

How that works in practice

Tell us what you're trying to build

Or what you're trying to get off. Either way, the first conversation is about what the thing has to do.

Write to us and a person reads it. You'll get a straight answer about whether this is work we should be doing, and a quote written for you if it is.
