Moving off Weebly

The platform stopped moving.
Your business didn’t.

Weebly still works. It just isn’t where the investment goes any more, and you can see it in the features that never arrive.

Sentrello is our only partnership. On the clouds, it's our people who hold the certifications. We don't claim a partner tier, and we'll keep saying so until that changes.

Where this usually starts

Nothing’s broken. Nothing’s improving either

Weebly moves are rarely urgent. That’s exactly why they get put off for three years.

  • The product roadmap has gone quiet, and the gaps you noticed in 2022 are still gaps.
  • The archive download hands you flat HTML, not content you can reuse.
  • Editing is drag-and-drop, so the markup underneath is nobody’s idea of structured.
  • Anything past the built-in features means embedding a third-party widget and hoping.
  • Your business outgrew the platform decision a while ago. The site’s still sitting on it.

What we do instead

We turn flat pages back into structured content

Between the archive download and a crawl of the live site, we get everything you’ve published. From that we build a real content model, with types, fields and the relationships between them, on Strapi, Payload CMS or a custom build. Leaving Weebly is half the job. The other half is landing somewhere you won’t need to leave again in four years.

How it works

How a Weebly move goes

  1. Take the archive and crawl the site

The archive gives us the files; the crawl shows what’s actually published and linked. Reconciled, the two make the inventory.

  2. Parse the flat HTML back into fields

Headings, body, images and metadata pulled out of drag-and-drop markup and into structured content. Most of the hours go here.

  3. Design a model that will last

Content types and fields built around what you publish, so adding the fiftieth page is the same job as adding the fifth.

  4. Map the URLs

Weebly’s structure onto yours, one to one, blog archives included, all checked as a build gate.

  5. Run both, then cut over

The new site proves itself beside the old one. DNS moves last, and it can move back.

What comes across

Related

  • Platform Migration

Applications, infrastructure, the legacy system nobody dares switch off, and every CMS from WordPress to Joomla. However old it is and whatever it’s called, if your business runs on it, we can move it.

  • Application Development

A two-screen booking tool or the system your whole company runs on. One team from the first whiteboard to the fortieth patch, so nobody inherits code they’ve never seen.

  • Sentrello

Sentrello is a self-hosted, source-available unified business management platform. We’re a Sentrello Premier Partner, and our own invoices, net terms and subscriptions all come out of it.

What made you finally look?

With Weebly there’s usually one specific thing, and it’s a good place to start.

Tell us that and the page count. We’ll tell you how much work the move really is and where you should land.
